As those of you who follow us on twitter know, a few days ago, mommy unexpectedly brought another cat into our lives. Of course, as fortune would have it, she wasted no time settling in on our favorite spot on the couch.
Let’s back up and tell you a little bit about the story of Pie…
Pie originally came into mommy’s life almost 3 years ago, when her girlfriend brought Pie home from the shelter. Pie was emaciated, weighing in at only two pounds, and was very small.
For about a year, mommy helped to raise Pie, and the two of them got very attached. When the relationship ended, mommy really couldn’t see Pie anymore. After a few false alarms where Pie needed a new home and mommy made room, only to be let down when it fell through… mommy and Pie’s mom decided that Pie would be allowed to spend the night here when she might otherwise be alone. So, this was the first attempt at trying things out.

They finally got to hang out again.
For the first day, mommy kept us separated. First, we got the bedroom, and Pie got the living room.
We were really interested in her, but she seemed really put off by us. She’d hiss and recoil, even when we didn’t do anything. It seemed to throw her off though that we weren’t chasing her or responding. Must be living with a dog. I don’t understand dogs.
After a few hours of posturing and George following her around, things finally calmed down a little bit.
All in all, it was a pretty interesting endeavor. Pie was a very strange house guest. Once she got past her trepidation and mild aggression, she started to split the line between lazy and silly. At around 2 AM our second night together, Pie took a leap from the top of the highest perch on our cat trees into the laundry hamper. She also helped us to re-discover our wonderful noisy toys like our jingle balls and tweeting bouncers!
