We Had a Visitor!

This is Pie, our visitor.

As those of you who follow us on twitter know, a few days ago, mommy unexpectedly brought another cat into our lives. Of course, as fortune would have it, she wasted no time settling in on our favorite spot on the couch.

It is a pretty cozy spot...

Let’s back up and tell you a little bit about the story of Pie…

Pie originally came into mommy’s life almost 3 years ago, when her girlfriend brought Pie home from the shelter. Pie was emaciated, weighing in at only two pounds, and was very small.

This was Pie on her first day home.

For about a year, mommy helped to raise Pie, and the two of them got very attached. When the relationship ended, mommy really couldn’t see Pie anymore. After a few false alarms where Pie needed a new home and mommy made room, only to be let down when it fell through… mommy and Pie’s mom decided that Pie would be allowed to spend the night here when she might otherwise be alone. So, this was the first attempt at trying things out.

They finally got to hang out again.

For the first day, mommy kept us separated. First, we got the bedroom, and Pie got the living room.

We knew something was up because we could smell her on the other side of the door.

We were really interested in her, but she seemed really put off by us. She’d hiss and recoil, even when we didn’t do anything. It seemed to throw her off though that we weren’t chasing her or responding. Must be living with a dog. I don’t understand dogs.

After a few hours of posturing and George following her around, things finally calmed down a little bit.

Food certainly didn't hurt...

All in all, it was a pretty interesting endeavor. Pie was a very strange house guest. Once she got past her trepidation and mild aggression, she started to split the line between lazy and silly. At around 2 AM our second night together, Pie took a leap from the top of the highest perch on our cat trees into the laundry hamper. She also helped us to re-discover our wonderful noisy toys like our jingle balls and tweeting bouncers!

Maybe she'll come visit again, who knows?

Toy Review: PURRfect™ Leather Bouncer

Alright, everybody! It’s time for our very first product review, and I’m thrilled to be recommending one of our absolute favorites, the PURRfect™ Leather Bouncer! Which was a winner of the Editor’s Choice Award in Cat Fancy!

Here's the tag that you'll be looking for!

Mommy just bought us a new one, and she made sure to get lots of pictures of it before letting us play with it. I wasn’t too keen on it, but retrospectively it was probably a smart choice, because now we can show you before and after photos!

Here are the pictures:

Here's the old one! (By the way, just in case you were wondering, it didn't start out the same color as the new one.)

Here's the fuzzy end of the old toy. As you can see, it's a little bit sad looking, not nearly as furry as it ought to be.

Aaaaaand, drumroll please!

Here's the new one!

And here's the new furry end! Look at how fuzzy it is! It feels like real fur, but it's faux! Economical, and animal-friendly.

Here are a couple of videos of me enjoying it!

Its features include:

• Natural, eco-friendly leather that smells delicious

• 18″ wand with a 6″ cable that adds a bit of bounce

• Strings that make an fun noise when snapped

• Animal-friendly faux fur that feels like real prey

• 36″ reinforced cable good for large and small play areas

George and I both love it. It was an important part of us being re-introduced! It was my first toy in my new home. Mommy calls me an addict because I drag it around ceaselessly. I keep trying to explain to her that if she just played with me with it all the time, I wouldn’t have to keep bringing it back to her.

They come in a wide variety of colors and styles! Wish mommy would buy us one of each...

There are tons of places online to buy these, but mommy likes to buy it at her local Kriser’s, which is a great all-natural option for dog and cat owners in Southern California and the Chicago Metro Area.

We hope you found our review helpful and you’ll try out this amazing toy for yourselves! If your cat is anything like the two of us, he or she will love it!

In short: our rating for this toy is:

Getting the Hang of this Internet Thing

You can tell we have our priorities in order.

Hey Readers!

Sorry for the delay in posts. We took a couple of days off for Thanksgiving. Yum, turkey leftovers! We’ve also been investigating all of the interesting things that the blogosphere and twitter have to offer. It’s so much fun getting to know all of you little by little, and we hope you’re enjoying getting to know us little by little. If you ever want to know anything about us, don’t hesitate to ask!

This Thanksgiving, we had so much to be thankful for. We have a forever home, for one! Out of the shelters and the crowded house full of 120 cats that we started in. We have two doting parents who love us and let us sleep on their faces, wander around noisily, and steal their seats on the couch. We have great toys, and awesome cat trees. We get scratches every day whenever we ask for them. We have delicious food complete with wet food and treats. We have interesting things to watch from our windows, and interesting creatures to watch inside of our house. And, most importantly, we’re together.

Then, of course, as if we didn’t have enough to be thankful for, mom went out and bought us a brand new toy today! (Well, not exactly brand new… A new replacement for one of our favorites that was getting a little beat up.) We’ll be reviewing it tomorrow, so make sure to check back in!

PS. For those of you interested in an update about our tiny sister Eisley, unfortunately she crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday. There was nothing that anyone could do. RIP little sister. We’ll miss you.

Sad Day

Today was a sad day. We had to spend most of the day locked away in the bedroom so that our mommies could pay attention to one of the little funny looking animals they keep in the second room. Vixie thinks they’re little cats, but I’m not so sure…

We only got a little look at her but she didn’t look so good, and it sounded like she was having trouble breathing. 😦

Please keep our family in your thoughts, and pray for our tiny sister Eisley.

Lazy Day

Yesterday it rained! There were so many exciting sights and sounds on the other side of the giant see through wall! The giant metal monsters were driving through the water and sending up waves on every side! The sights! the sounds! the smells! I’d never seen anything like it before.

I tried to show mommy how amazing it all was, but she seemed unimpressed…

Look at all of the interesting things outside, Mommy!

Today though, not so much luck… I tried to wake mommy up at 7 AM, like I usually do. She still doesn’t seem to understand that 7 AM and on is kitty time, but she just pet me and rolled over. Bummer… and BORING!

Your feet are not that interesting, Mom. Pick up the toy and play with me.

So I had to resort to cute tactics…

Pleeeeease?

That seemed to work much better. No one can resist the cuteness. Don’t even try to pretend like you could.

XOXO,

Vixie
